Our Advertising Policy
Most of us hate online advertising. We've learned to ignore the banner ads,
we cringe at the flashing side ads that cause headaches and in some cases, seizures. And as research
is showing us, we're even getting immune to them! We are learning to ignore the areas of a web page
where ads are usually placed - even to the point of missing relevant content!
But there is a reason that advertising exists. As a society, we've chosen it as a solution to pay
for the cost of giving out free information. Whether you agree to it or not, you accept advertising
in order to get free television, cheaper newspapers and magazines, and the free use of websites.
Websites cost money to produce. There are annual fees to keep a domain name (the www address), hosting
fees to keep a website on the World Wide Web, and costs for producing content from graphic image production,
to research and content maintenance.
MICE cannot exist without financial support. This is not a side business or hobby that is funded by
another source. This is what we do for a living.
Therefore, the website has to be self-supporting whether it is through sales of advertising content, or
through our products and courses.
We've made every effort to keep advertising down to a minimum, and we've tried to make sure that none of
the ads cause you ill effects.
In our selection, we've chosen advertisers with products we have trusted and recommended for many years.
Would we still recommend them if we were not being paid? With one exception, yes.
The exception is Microsoft Windows Live One Care. We all know how I feel about Microsoft. But I felt that
since so many users were resorting to VISTA because they feel they have no other choice when they buy a
new machine, then we needed to make sure you had coverage. And that's the only reason we took them on.
We've also selected advertisers who we know have a proven track record with trustworthy linking. The
advertisers you see on our site have never been party to a malicious code injection or other types of
web poisoning.
As our site grows and our income rises, we hope to eliminate the need for the advertising content. But only
time will tell. Until then, we'll do the best we can to keep the ads down to a minimum.
