Back on January 30, 2008, we issued an alert here in our blog about SANS researching the possibility of malware being put into Insignia Digital Frame Software CDs.  See post: http://mice.org/blog/?p=24.

Well, the Chicago Tribune must be reading our blog! Yesterday they ran a story on Factory installed viruses.

Read it here:

I DID IT!

Thanks to Steve Gibson at Gibson Research (GRC.com), I was able to fix our navigation with a Pure CSS Drop Menu solution!

While the full linking system isn’t quite finished, I wanted to show you what the final site is looking like. And! I’ve even put together a full tutorial as I was doing this so I could show you how I did it and help you do it too! Everything you’ll need is available on the Pure CSS Tutorial Page.

Now, even I won’t get lost here! Mouse Smilie

Thank you again Steve for making your stylesheet public domain!

While eating my breakfast this morning, I thought I’d browse my recent edition of eWeek magazine (yes, I still get paper magazine delivered!).

The front page of the March 10, 2008 edition boasted an interview with Steve Ballmer, M$ CEO.

I was okay with the interview until I got to the section that discussed the fact that even though Vista and Windows Server are from the same code base, Vista is not seen as a great, reliable, advanced operating system, while Windows Server has been favorably received.

The interviewer, Peter Galli, asks Ballmer, “Why do you think there is this divergence of perceptions?” A fair question to ask!

I couldn’t get past the first section of Ballmer’s reply without wanting to throw up my breakfast!

Ballmer says, “I think there are two things that people see in Vista. I think most importantly is the set of compatibility issues that people see. Now, it’s ironic, as compatibility is primarily not what I would call quality.”

Excuse me Mr. Ballmer? Then just what is your definition of QUALITY? Quality of code? Quality of bloat? Quality of locking down security so much that I’d rather put a sledgehammer to the machine then figure out what the heck I need to do to unlock the freaking thing?

I can see it now…… “Yes, look at my new quad core PC using Vista. I can’t do a fracking thing on it, but the code sure is QUALITY!”

There you go folks! Run out and get your copies of the QUALITY VISTA Windows Operating System.  Dysfunctional for use, but definitely quality! Be the first on your block to own a totally useless high tech machine!

I’m running to the store right now Steve Ballmer! Thanks for the heads up!

I remember back quite some time, where one of these chains were accused of actually damaging your car while you were getting your oil changed. They were cutting hoses or something like that. But I don’t remember which chain it was.

Anyway, ya gotta love modern technology!
Hidden Cameras and a News Station are a great mix!
See the video file for yourself!

I was just thinking of taking my car there for an oil change!
All I have to say is, Karma Baby! Karma!

Tomorrow, March 8, 2008 is International Women’s Day according to UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women).

According to their press realease:
“On 25 February, the UN Secretary-General announced the United Nations campaign, UNiTE to End Violence against Women. For more than three decades, women’s rights advocates have been working to place the urgency of ending violence against women on every national, regional, and international agenda.” (Source: http://www.unifem.org/news_events/story_detail.php?StoryID=661)

To that end, Avon has also joined in the campaign. Avon has created the Women’s Empowerment Bracelet.

In Avon’s online product catalog, they state:
Bracelet proceeds will be used to create a new Avon Empowerment Fund. The first $500,000 from bracelet sales will be matched by the Avon Foundation for a total donation of $1 million to UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women, for projects that will empower women around the world.

The bracelet is a simple, yet beautiful silver-tone infinity symbol on a blue stretch cord for $3.00.

In light of all the news regarding the abuse of women, including the recent  beheading of a woman’s 15 month old child in Saudi Arabia, and all the other atrocities to women in all countries, walks of life, race and religion, this is a way for women to show support for our sisters visually, while knowing that our purchase will go to help them.

I personally applaud Avon products for their commitment in not only donating the proceeds from the sales, but in adding an additional corporate matching grant that equates to a $1 Million Dollar commitment to the fund. I’m proud to say that I was once affilated with that company as an Avon representative nearly 30 years ago!

Do something good for women everywhere, and purchase a bracelet today!

You can get one from your Avon representative, or their website here:

Help stop violence to women now!

Namaste’
Debbie
