Well, I need to hand out a kudo’s award to the folks over at the TekForums in the U.K.

Hi guys! Guess what? I’m a woman!

Yeah, I know, imagine that? A woman techie! What’s the world coming to? A woman running for VP in the US and a woman techie! But unlike Sara Palin, I’ve been in the business for over 10 years officially, over 20 unofficially instead of 5 weeks!

I’m giving you guys a hard time in fun.

First, thank you for pointing to my blog. I really appreciate it.

Secondly, it’s an honest mistake. I’m really used to it. (The reference to me being a male.)

However, if I might respond to EaglesHe’s just paranoid” comment. Ummm, yeah, I guess you could say that. But with good reason.

More and more, Corporate America and the US Government are taking away our liberty. Slowly, quietly, and under the radar of most people. I’m not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination. I just see what’s happening.

Technology is a beautiful thing but it can also be abused. And this is one of the things I’m fighting by educating people here at this blog and at our main site.

Right now there is a house bill sitting in Congress waiting for a Senate vote that has been coined the, “Thought Crime” legislation.  Yes, you read that correctly. You can be found guilty of a thinking the wrong thoughts. So, I actually could be arrested, tried, and convicted for speaking out about all this BIG BROTHER stuff! Isn’t that a sobering thought to all you bloggers out there?

If you don’t believe me, check it out yourself.

“This unconstitutional bill would effectively give the federal government authority to punish American citizens for ‘thought crimes’ — a concept that has Big Brother written all over it. There are already state and local laws on the books that punish violent crime against any and all Americans,” said Boehner, R-Ohio.(Source: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,269853,00.html)

And to see the text of the proposed law, see this link: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-1592

So, am I paranoid? You betcha! And I believe it’s with good reason.

I was in the U.K. about four years ago and discovered how your CTV’s cover every inch of open space and found it very interesting. But you see, there’s a difference between our countries. Your government puts the camera’s up and so much as says, “Here’s what we’re doing and why. Live with it.

In the U.S. however, big corporations and government are accountable to the public so they have to stealth what they are doing lest anyone find their real motive. Just look at the mortgage melt-down and the problems on Wall Street that we’re going through right now as evidence of that!

And if you really want to know the TRUE reason why we were headed in this direction in the first place, just see the movie, Maxed Out(Truth in Internet Marketing Note: That link contains our Amazon Affiliate link and we will receive a small amount for your purchase by clicking that link.)

It’s greed my friends. Pure, unadulterated greed. (But with an underlying purpose which I won’t get into right now.)

There is also a matter of ethics here too. Now call me a Pollyanna if you’d like, but I like to believe the world and its people are inherently good. Note: I said people and not corporations!

But isn’t it a bit deceptive to state one thing to the public, charge them to buy your product, and then take advantage of them after they’ve paid you for a product that they trusted you were being honest about?

I mean really! If the drug companies did what Microsoft is doing, we’d sue the crap out them and we do!

They tell us that a specific drug is safe only to find out that their fine print about the side effects should’ve been in large print! BANG! Major lawsuit!

And what if you purchased a car that after 5 years the manufacturer says, “Oh, we’re sorry but that car as at EOL*. We don’t make parts for it anymore nor support its repairs.BANG! Major lawsuit!

Only in the software industry are companies allowed to charge you for a product, cancel its support upon the development of the next rip-off it wants you to buy - untested at that - and all the while steal your data in process and sell it to third parties to make income on the back-end! And at what cost? YOURS!

Paranoid? Yes and ANGRY! And you should be too!

So again, I restate that yes, I’m paranoid and I believe with good reason.

My goal has always been on this website from as early as 1998 when it went live to the public, to educate. Whether that be educating you in the ways of fixing your computer, learning how to use programs, or keeping yourself and your data secure, that’s what I’m here to do.

And I will continue to do so, along with reporting on any BIG BROTHER out there until it becomes a crime to do so.

So thanks for the mention guys! And thanks for the heads up on iTunes Genius. I noticed that when I opened iTunes and upgraded the other day. Never really thought about checking into it’s spying capacity. So that post will be dedicated to you guys and specifically to neXus who gave me the idea!
