I found this small statistic in a little blurb beneath the Editor’s Notes by Hallie Mummert, in the current issue (June 2008) of Target Marketing Magazine:

Recycle toner and ink cartridges and by remanufactured ones. According to Office Depot, each remanufactured toner cartridge keeps approximately 2.5 pounds of metal and plastic out of the landfills… and conserves about a half gallon of oil.  - Sierra Club
