Your know, I feel some how vindicated for my being in a panic and slowly spiraling depression due to the economy. I also feel great to know that I’m in good company! Microsoft is feeling mine - and your - pain! Well, at least financially anyway!

According to an InfoWorld article, Microsoft filed an appearance in Delaware Bankruptcy court to collect money owed them from failed Wamu although they would not disclose how much was owed.

Seems Wamu was also a beta tester for Microsoft products.

Now I understand why the beta testing doesn’t work! I’m sure bank employees (and God knows how many other corporate users Microsoft uses) would use their computer just like we do at home. Yes, I’m sure of that!

All I can say to that is that I’m grateful I’m moving to Open Source soon!

That being said, and my feeling of smug, self-righteous indignation, for Microsoft feeling the pinch like we are - and hey, at least I’m honest about my smug, self-righteous indignation! - I can feel much better now. We are all stuck in the same shoes - large and small.  Well, maybe not.  The Wall Street firms are still doing okay especially AIG. But I won’t get started again!

I wanted to let you know that there are going to be a series of articles coming up dealing with slow computers.  So, if you are one of the slow computer sufferers out there, we’ll help you speed up your pc or laptop faster than a government bailout! (THAT WAS A JOKE!)

MY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

If you want to see how your Representative from the House voted on the bailout/rescue package, we have a link to the PDF for you. I posted this on my MySpace blog today.  The highlighted individuals (Republican’s and Democrats) are the ones that voted against the bailout. I am of the opinion that you should find your state in the file (alphabetical listing), and see how your Rep’s voted. Support those who voted no by re-electing them or calling their office and saying ‘Thank you!

Get your PDF of the House Votes by clicking here.

I will be posting the Senator’s votes by state tomorrow. The file is free and developed by our Director of Marketing.

In catching up on some reading during breakfast this morning, I came across a “Dear Techie” column in May 2008, Certification Magazine.

The reader asked whether certain certifications help in an economy like this.

While I agreed with both Ken Wagner and Wayne Anderson and their takes on it, the thing that surprised me the most was this statement by Wayne Anderson:

In the training arena, for example, I have seen much of actual course production at Microsoft and similar vendors go overseas.

So, if you can’t figure out why the training you’re receiving stinks, there you have it!

And if you are curious about what the answer was as to whether certifications help in this economy, feel free to read the full article here: Dear Techie: Struggling Economy Increases Competition Among Job Candidate.

And of course, you knew this had to be coming………
