I agree with you about the Mac but they too are vulnerable. This wasn't a "worry" post - it was to educate people. That's what I do! But thank you for commenting and sharing your views! Debbie

LOL! It's the r u botted program, that's all! I have the same thing!

But yes! Many rats, bots and other viruses can disable most AV programs, usually not all though because that takes an awful lot of programming. You might want to run a "hijackthis!" log and learn how to read it.

If you're that worried about it, you might want to either get a mac -- or stay off the internet completely (again, LOL!) Whatever you do, DON'T download anything! Hackers can "spoof" the email addresses of others to make it look like it came from your own mother.

I personally have a whole bunch o laptops that I use for different purposes, including 1 that I use for surfing and downloading...everything! Gets infected all the time and I let it! Then I just reformat and it's good to go.

This is still a problem even a year from your original post, today I've been getting alerts on Amazon.com of all places, and my hubby got alerts on Accuradio. (We use Avast! as our protection software and it pops up an alert.)

the IP in Japan, is the IP that RUbotted uses for updates, and information on updated BAD websites.
FWIW: Bad websites are those that drop tracking cookies on your machine without asking. Advertising sites. Mostly harmless. BUT.. RUbotted alerts on REAL bad stuff also.

Myself, I'm pretty much just annoyed at RUbotted because if this is ALL it does, well there's always the option to turn off the visual alerts.

What I want to know, is does this thing actually protect via blocking stuff, or just annoy with alerts ?

If you open your "active connections" (check your OS or your firewall program), I see that TMRUBotted.exe is talking to that IP.

Why not call them to see what the issue is?

The "alert" from the program means something, but "what" is up in the air. It could be a window opened by the site and not by the program?

I'd simply contact RUBotted to see what they have to say about the IP address. It might be theirs...
