Introduction to PC Security (101)
This is the first of many courses they won't let me teach in the classroom or
through conventional online college courses!
Why? Because I "tell it like it is!" And that may mean stepping on some "Big Corporate"
toes! From Apple to Microsoft and the hardware in between, I tell you what these companies
(and many others) don't want you to know!
What you don't know about PC security can hurt you! This introductory course is
designed for the absolute beginner. Every technical term explained — simply — and technical
concepts are put into real world examples.
In this first course, we'll take you through the basics of PC security and introduce you
to the underworld of viruses and malware. We'll slip into your PC and watch an e-mail go
from your outbox through the Internet to its destination. You'll be shocked. You'll be
enlightened. But most importantly, you'll lay the groundwork for securing your PC and network.
Who should take this course?
- Any person who uses a computer
- Office managers
- Staff responsible for PC repair and maintenance
- Network Administrators
- Tech Support Staff
- Security professionals
- Law Enforcement
- Parents with children who use the Internet
- Home wireless Network users
- Government Employees
- Beginners who want to learn how to protect themselves online
- Teens who want to learn how to protect themselves online
- Elderly who want to protect themselves online
This is an 8 week or 8 module self-directed course.
What does self-directed mean? It means that you decide how fast or how slow
you wish to learn the material. There are 8 lessons and you can do one a week,
one a day, or one a month. It's your choice. Self-paced for today's busy world!
Because the course runs continiously, there is always a section starting and
stopping, so you will always have access to your classroom and instructor.
And self-directed does not mean you're on your own either! There is a class chat
area where you can chat with other participants who are online the same time you
are. Or, you can take advantage of the course discussion forum where you interact
through posts. And you even have access to your instructor via e-mail and scheduled
chat times.
If you're ready to take a proactive role in your online security, then sign up today!
