Sneaky Applications!

How many times have you found yourself asking, "How did that get on my computer?"

No, your computer doesn't have gremlins! It has some sneaky updaters and download installers!

Although I wish I could blame this practice on Microsoft, it really started with freeware and shareware providers who snuck things in under the radar called adware. I guess many software vendors found how easy it was to slip things past the consumer so they just kept the practice going!

This video is a demonstration of how the Java update tried to sneak in the Google toolbar when I updated recently. Not that I'm anti-Google because we use adsense and adwords, but I don't trust Google's information gathering and the toolbar is yet another way for them to get info on my surfing habits.
